Snow as Usual

It snowed a bit this morning... the "usual" sort of snow we get up here, not the 15 inches we had right before Christmas. That was an amazing "Wonderland" experience ... this is far more mundane. When I let the dogs out this morning, it was cold and damp, but no snow. When I finally dragged myself out of bed an hour later... SNOW! Very cool.
I do love snow, and I'm glad we have actual seasons here - unlike the south part of Calif. The weather there is nice, but boring... without a calendar you'd not know if it was March, October, or June. I know my Dad likes that, as he's 93 and he can go for a walk every day down there. He'd be hard pressed to go out much up here, or the Mid-West. I guess there is good reason for all those folks to migrate to SoCal, Arizona, and Florida. What will I do when I'm 93? I really don't like the desert; I can't handle the heat.

Since the "Clay Place" studio is closing on March 13th, I'm finishing up the pots I have underway there... all are trimmed and waiting for the Bisque Kiln. I'm looking into getting my own cone 6 kiln, used of course, and putting electricity into the Potting Shed. Decent, reliable kilns are pricy and very heavy to have shipped... so most of the ones I've seen on Craig's List are not feasable. Something will come up, and I'll try to get into the clay class at the local Junior College this coming semester. I know it isn't personal, but the Board's decision to eliminate the clay facility from the mix at the Art Center is disappointing/depressing. I was just getting my confidence back and beginning to do some nice work.
