This morning Henry opened the curtains in the living room and the "Ten Acre Field" was FULL of Elk! He was surprised, to say the least. I counted 32 of the big animals. This picture is only a part of the herd... Hmm, I need to prune those lilacs before the buds break (and crop the photo - but then you'd not be able to see how close the house the Elk were).
Fortunately I had let the dogs out earlier, and they were comfortably back inside on their blanket. We watched the Elk for about half an hour... they weren't grazing, but they wern't leaving either. They just sort of "drifted" across the pasture, stopping in a big group now and then. Eventually they went up to the far corner of the field and melted into the forest. Way cool.
