2010, and I'm back again...

Christmas has come and gone. And these fish have been gifted to new homes. I made one for Nora, one for Kerstin, one for Marnie, one for Larry... and kept one for me! This is the first time I've made anything using a mold. Very interesting - first you make the original "whatever", then you make a mold of that... and then you make the rest of the obljects. Very like pulling prints when you've made an etching. Not something I will probably do a whole lot of, but I'm glad I could do enough fish for everyone's Christmas. It was pretty cool to do them all using Raku firing as well. I do enjoy "instant gratification" - and since I have no kiln of my own, my stoneware pottery isn't completely my own... I don't get to fire it. Raku I can fire myself.

Weather has been on everyone's mind, and Oregon isn't an exception. Our Winter has been very mild, with less than usual rainfall. In December we had several days where the temperature dipped into the teens, and I took this picture of my pear tree while it was still covered in frost. I love the way the light is coming through the sparkling branches!
