Beautiful Thursday

Last week the weather was wonderful... and a good thing it was because Thursday was the Umpqua Valey Art Association's first Plein Air "Paint Out". FUN!

I hadn't done a lot of Pastel painting this year; garden, pots and damp weather not favorable for taking a few hours out to go paint. The UVAA exhibit was juried, but the point was for everyone to go out and have fun. Some amazing work made the cut... mine didn't, but it was hung in the second gallery.

There was a curve where the winery road met the river. So pretty that it was hard to decide where to look! I found a lovely spot near some trees and made two paintings. Unfortunately, the better work couldn't be put in the show because I had painted it on a 'toned' ground. I rarely work on white, and was lucky to have found one piece of white board in my kit... probably still there because I don't like workiing on it! Next year I'll make more white paper, so I can turn in morepaintings (we were allowed three per person).

Now it is raining again... an inch and a quarter in the last two days.
