Veeery Interesting...

On the way home from town yesterday afternoon I noticed that the cows in the pasture by the Truck Stop were close enough to the fence that I could get a decent photo of them. Three cows, one bull, and some little ones - all there together. A little earlier in the season, when the cattle would lie down, all you could see were these huge horizontal lines above the green grass. "Longhorn" is not a misnomer!
I'm constantly amazed at the length of the horns on some of the cows... this girl has an amazing spread. If I didn't KNOW she was sixth generation Texas Longhorn, with confirmation to match, I'd say she was at least part Watusi! She put a nice calf on the ground this year, as well as having spectacular horns, too. Hers is the little white one.
