Almost a month since I posted last. "Funny How Time Flies..." yes? It doesn't seem that long.

It has been very wet; measurable rain the 26 out of the last 32 days... did we move to Seattle without my noticing, or rather, did Seattle move to us?? I may be one of about five people in the county who still enjoy the rain - Shereen being another. Most folks have had quite enough, though. The sheep are getting greenish 'mossy' coats. Their fleece is rotting because the sheep are not bred for wet weather, and their fleece doesn't contain enough natural lanolin to repel the wet. Poor things, I wonder if they will be itchy later or if the fleece will just rot off and drop early? This summer I won't be here to see - I'm off to England.

I will be at an National Endowment for the Humanities Seminar in Nottingham (yes, Sherwood Forest's own Nottingham) for five weeks this summer! I'm really excited to be going - only 15 teachers... yes, librarians count as teachers - from the entire USA have been selected to do this seminar! We will study the Industrial Revolution in Britain (1750-1850)... and I'll get to visit family and friends as well. Henry will join me for the second week (before the seminar tone turns too scholarly, he says) so he can see Iron Bridge Gorge with the group, and then we will visit York.

I'm looking forward to going up to the Lake District to paint as well... maybe the first weekend. It will be nice to see sights that Gunnie and Gramps thought beautiful, and go for walks on the same tracks they trod over 80 years ago.
